All, Others I'm sure are way more experienced at doing field day outdoors, but here's my two cents worth. I've been searching tent rentals and have found they fall in to two categories. First is Wedding / Event types which are prohibitively expensive, and second which is harder to find is just standard tent rental. Those are still pricey, and sidewalls seem to be extra. Again, from my "limited" searching thus far, the one-day price to rent exceeds the cost to purchase one. I'm including a link to one example for purchase. I'm not necessarily suggesting this, it's just for reference and discussion. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSJXLN7B/?coliid=I12WLOR9OIWJ7C <https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSJXLN7B/?coliid=I12WLOR9OIWJ7C&colid=31RQX7Z47 R77R&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it> &colid=31RQX7Z47R77R&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it There are a couple of videos that show what it looks like and how to set it up. If we plan to operate from the park or other outdoor areas, having our own tent may pay off in the long run. It could also be used for other events like Winter Field Day, Builds where more space is needed, Picnic etc. The downside is someone would need to store this in the interim. The other things required for the tent setup would be: Folding Tables for equipment Chairs for operators Potentially some type of underlayment / flooring to keep tables / chairs from sinking Overhead lighting if staying overnight Maybe some of these items can be provided by members if they have them. My quick reaction is "No" but I'd like to hear thoughts. Typically our overnight operations are pretty dead. Sometimes people pound out a new run on Sunday morning, but that's been infrequent. Here are some Pro/Cons I came up with - feel free to expand. Pros * Shorter commitment for the key people * No staying/sleeping outside in the elements * Shorter time may lead to greater focus on operating due to the time limit - less chance to "put it off" * Park permit would only be needed for 1 day Cons: * Tear down and pack up in the dark (unless we quit really early - 8pm) * No opportunity for operating on Sunday morning * Isn't the full "Field Day" experience Jason
